The University of Southern California and the USC Institute for Creative Technologies are proud to announce the 1st Annual USC Virtual Reality Health Week! USC VR Health Week will host a collection of conferences on topics relevant to the use of VR and advanced technologies for a range of application areas including: Pain Management, Disabilities and Mental Health, Psychological Wounds of War, Medicine, Advanced Body Sensing, and the science of Intelligent Virtual Human Agents. With the current advances, interest, and adoption of these technologies and application areas, USC and the Institute for Creative Technologies, is poised to make significant contributions via its research, development and leadership in these emerging areas. VRPain 2016: Reducing pain and suffering with the use of Virtual Reality - September 19, 2016 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, CA

The VRPain2016 Conference will include representatives from the research, clinical, regulatory, funding, and business sectors, with a goal of charting a path to move VR forward into this realm of clinical care. Topics will include acute and chronic pain management, addressing phantom limb pain, reducing psychological pain of stress related disorders, minimizing discomfort during cancer treatment, and the general advancement of healthcare practice in this area.


11th International Conference on Disability, Virtual Reality and Associated Technologies (ICDVRAT) - September 20-22, 2016 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, CA

Started in 1996, this is the longest running VR conference focused on disability and mental health conditions. Peer reviewed papers and demos will be presented across a wide spectrum of VR rehabilitation approaches that address both the physical and psychological difficulties of persons with disabilities and mental health disorders (Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Anxiety Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Low Vision, etc.).


The 2nd ICT Workshop on the Use of Virtual Reality to address the Hidden Wounds of War - September 22, 2016 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, CA

This workshop is designed to provide an overview of some of the exciting VR and related technology directions that have been pursued to address the healthcare needs of those who have experienced combat-related trauma. The assessment and treatment of PTSD and the use of Virtual Human agents for healthcare support and clinical training will be primarily focuses on in this half-day workshop.


10th Annual USC Global Body Computing Conference - September 23, 2016 at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA

16th International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA 2016) - September 20-23, 2016 at USC Institute for Creative Technologies, Playa Vista, CA

IVA 2016 is the 16th congregation of an interdisciplinary annual conference and the main leading scientific forum for presenting research on modeling, developing and evaluating intelligent virtual agents (IVAs) with a focus on communicative abilities and social behavior. IVAs are intelligent digital interactive characters that can communicate with humans and other agents using natural human modalities like facial expressions, speech, gestures and movement. They are capable of real-time perception, cognition, emotion and action that allow them to participate in dynamic social environments.  In addition to presentations on theoretical issues, the conference encourages the showcasing of working applications.
